Scrap Project Updates

Spent the last three days disconnected from most things electronic, mostly computers and sewing machines. Withdrawals, maybe, but at least we have one room cleaned and painted, including ceiling, with primer. So looking forward to fresh paint going on, as this was the 'baby' room from 22 years ago.

But enough of that. Goals for this week are to finish up the Nickel Brick blocks,

a pattern from the Book of the Month Selection, Perfect Quilts for Precut Fabrics.

Most of the blocks are done, but I still have a few more nickels, and I think the quilt could be a bit bigger since there won't be the piano key borders. Lots more sewing in store for me! And another machine cleaning, as this is the mess the first round created.

Yuck! A message for you - clean your machine after several hours of sewing.

And hopefully, Think Outside the Box HST Challenge 2 will get it's last border. The first attempt is on the right,

but the squared off edges just didn't look right. On the left, fabric bits are pinned in place to match the angles, which looks better. Out went the squared off pieces, and parts of the HST's so the new border can go on. It's torn apart, and ready to go.

I think that's enough to keep me occupied this week.

Have a great day sewing!

  1. I love the Nickel Brick pattern! So scrappy and bright, but also very well organized. Your HST piece looks great, I am looking forward to see how you are going to finish it! Thanks for sharing!!

  2. I love your Nickel Brick blocks. The colours pop off the page surrounded by the black fabric. Good luck making more blocks.

  3. the quilt look great scraps are wonderful to sew together

  4. The Nickel Blocks are such a great idea. Looks terrific too.

I am always amazed at what comes out of the machine.

  5. Beautiful projects and thanks for the reminder.....time to clean my machine!

Thank you so much for just made my day!
