Midweek Makers #55

Ready to party?? Then let's do it here at Midweek Makers!

Bring whatever fabric related project you've finished or that you're working on - we'd love to see!

So many awesome projects were shown last week, but one really made me stop and think about participating in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC). Take a look at this beauty, made by Kat at Scrapbox Quilts.

Wow! What a fantastic use of scraps! When she's tired of this quilt, I would certainly have a home for it. Well done Kat, and proudly place the 'Featured' button with it!

Being that I'm so impressed with Kat's use of scraps, it has inspired me to give the RSC17 at SoScrappy a try this year. I've regained the courage to look through my scrap bag, and it looks like there's enough there to give it a go. At least I got a start with reds for the strawberry blocks, though RSC17 starts off with purple.

Unfortunately, those purple blocks will have to wait a few more days, as I'm at the Road2CA show. On Monday, I had a fabulous longarm class that utilized stencils. This is my favorite stencil for the day - and doesn't it look gorgeous in that variegated thread?

Tuesday was a Paisley class with Claudia Pfeil, which was a bit trickier for me, as I'm not that fast at thinking of different fills on the fly. But it was great to have the exposure, and it's a skill that I would like to work on. Time to pull out the drawing pad and start practicing.

And in other news, I holed up in the hotel Monday night (some way to spend a birthday), and finished the painting on Santorini! Woohoo!

Now it has the blue rail, the iron bars and gate, and the tree. I'm really pleased with it, and hope that the quilting goes smoothly. I think I must contact Lenore for hints on that.

Enough about me - let's see what you've got to share!
  • Please link directly to your specific post, not your main blog page.
  • Link any recent post that has to do with sewing and fabric.
  • Visit the other party guests and leave a comment. It's a great way to make new friends!
  • Grab the Midweek Makers button code to put on your post or sidebar to let everyone know about the party!
