Block 7 of the Growing Up QAL

Block 7 of Alida's Growing Up QAL, over at Alida Tweloq Designs, is a wrap!

English paper pieced block 7 of the Growing Up QAL

Continued in my color scheme of red, white, and blue, this design uses the English paper piecing technique, something I've not tried before. Would I do more of this type of piecing? Only if I were travelling and didn't have a sewing machine around!

But it was good to learn a new skill, which is what the Growing Up QAL is all about. If you want to try new sewing skills, join in!

Have a great weekend!

  2. It is a wonderful traveling project, but I agree that the machine work is better when you have it available. Your work looks perfect.

  4. EPP is indeed perfect for travelling or when you know that you have to wait for long lines and appointments :) I prefer smaller templates than the one used in this first block, but bigger shapes fill the space much quicker, which has its advantages :) Thanks for sharing!!

  5. Hi Susan,
This block is beautiful - you did a fabulous job on this! This looks really cool and hard to make. Good for you for tackling a learning/growing project. I can't wait to see where this goes. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. You made a great job of your block, I first did EPP on my handmade sampler quilt, my introduction to quilting and decided it is not for me. I so admire those beautiful EPP quilts and stand in awe of the dedication it takes to complete one, but I have just ordered a template with half hexagons for my forage into hexagon quilts.
