No Quilting, Just Painting

No progress. Zip. Nada. Absolutely none.
No quilting what - so - ever.

With deadlines to meet, I did nothing on the ducks and pinwheels quilt, nor the patriotic piece this weekend. Though it's not unusual not to quilt on the Saturday and Sunday, as that's reserved for family time.

Ah, I was so hoping to make progress, but instead it was on a different project. After spending the weekend painting, our kitchen update that has been going on since December is finally finished!!!

Deemed a 'kitchen in transition' because of the oak refaced original cabinets (we did that 25 years ago, and they're still in great shape), and the new white beverage center, plus the mix of stainless steel and white appliances, it now looks freshened up! The best update was the counters - Pental Quartz Clavaria - what a huge difference over the old embarrassing Formica.

So happy the painting and the little details are all done - a ton of work this weekend. I promise though, that I'm back to work today, and will have a big surprise for you tomorrow!

  1. looks great and such a great idea to create a beverage center - so much better than carrying the teapot/coffee maker back and forth to fill with water or empty depending on what kind you have -

  2. It looks really pretty, Susan! I'm sure you'll enjoy it for years to come. Quilting will be a great reward for all that work!

  3. Your oak cabinets are the same design as ours. That was 23 years ago. Your new counter top has very close coloring as our Silestone-love that color!!
    Your kitchen looks fab;)

  5. Beautiful Kitchen! Great choice of the tile back splash to complement the counter top and a smaller version of the floor tile. Enjoy!

  6. Beautiful kitchen! I am right smack dab in the middle of trying to decide what to put in our kitchen. I think I finally got the cabinet style picked, next flooring and counter tops. You are such a tease making us wait another day to see what you're working on!

  8. how pretty and functional. It's draining to have construction going on! Now you can get out of the kitchen and into the studio! After you have some chocolate that is.

    1. Much more functional now - we're not dancing around the stove/microwave combo anymore! And yes, more time to quilt!

  9. Love the sleek modern look. Beautiful kitchen. Can you keep it uncluttered? My flat surfaces seem to attract "stuff".

    1. Thanks! And yes, it stays pretty uncluttered, as hubby doesn't like a lot of 'stuff'.

  12. Hi Susan,
Welllll, I guess that's a good enough reason to not be sewing/quilting. I guess. I will refrain from issuing a ticket from the quilting police, just this one time. It is, after all, a holiday. Rules are meant to be broken or slackened at least. You kitchen looks great. It makes you want to just sit there and enjoy it doesn't it?! I hope you are. Guess who received a little package in the mail today??!! Yup, that would be me. Thank you so much! I am going to write something on my blog referring back to you . . . I am sure you won't mind (I assume). Thank you again - that is just too darn nice. ~smile~ Roseanne
