What a Difference a Day Makes!

All it took was one day, and what a transformation!  Sunny Lanes now has borders, and boy, is she pretty!

Now the piecing pops!  Even my son, who usually gives me a 'meh' on my creations, said "Oooh, I like this one!"  Geesh!  And what am I doing for quilting, you ask?  Uh, don't know yet.  Another that will have to hang there while I think about it.

Also got some scrap busting done yesterday.  My small modern group decided to use up our scraps making random pieced blocks.  Each of us chose three colors to each make a 15 1/2" block, with a white center.  Here's mine.

Aqua (hmm, wonder why I chose that color!)
And just finished this morning, Blue.

All of these were done with the flip and stitch technique with phone book pages as a stabilizer.  Check out this post, playing for more than 15 minutes, on how to do the flip and stitch. These were fun to create, so I might just make some more for a different quilt.  I'll stick to a smaller block size though--15 1/2" is a bit big for what I have in mind.  Plenty of scraps still to use up!

Linking up at Freshly Pieced today!

Happy Quilting!

  1. What a fun quilt! A great scrap buster for sure.

  2. Wow, that is a beauty! I really like the three white diamonds. There are so many things to look at here. I saw a triangle quilt quilted with a neat diamond pattern that might look good on your quilt. I'm looking forward to seeing it finish. Who is it for?

    1. Would love to see the diamond pattern idea, as I'm still stumped. The quilt will be mine until I get tired of it, or some other beauty comes along to displace it!

  3. I agree, the borders really made the quilt pop.

  4. Susan, love your blog,, so upbeat, educational, and love the quilts and blocks that you make.

    1. That is such a lovely comment--thank you so much! Can you tell I love to quilt?

  5. This is a beautiful quilt - reminds me of spring with it's beautiful colors and the crisp white! Now I want to make one just like it!!!

Thank you so much for just made my day!
