Black Friday Purchases

Well, I certainly didn't think I was going to spend the whole weekend shopping, but that I did. And now it's Cyber Monday, with more deals to be had online. Did I make any progress on the Mediterranean Rose quilt? Nope. None. Na-da. With a guild meeting this morning, and the shipping of Winter Feed kits in the afternoon (thank you to everyone who purchased on Small Business Saturday!), there will be no sewing for going on 6 days. Would that be deemed a vacation???

But here's what I came home with this weekend, aside from the two coats, earrings, and 3 pairs of pants. I'm just showing what's quilt related. Warning - there's lots of dots, checks, and stripes!

From Saturday's adventure - pretty reds (I'm thinking ahead for Valentine's Day), plus orange, black, and grey.

The day also included a 20 yd roll of cotton batting for $80 - couldn't pass that up, though I already have an unopened roll in the closet!

From Sunday morning, a different store, with more dots and stripes.

Notice there are identical prints in different colorways - couldn't resist the bright freshness!

And Sunday afternoon, at yet another store, I couldn't pass up these black and grey prints.

And, no, I didn't buy the whole bolt. It's only 2.5 yards, but wrapped back up on the cardboard.

How about you? Find anything that sent your heart a-flutter? Or that you couldn't live without? Let us know in the comments!

Happy Quilting!

  1. LOL, we were at the same chain store on Sat.! And bought some of the same fabrics-red and black checked and the red w/darker polka dots. But I bought a whole lot more other prints too. And I was there on the Wed. before for more Christmas fabrics :>

  2. I look forward to seeing what you create for Valentine's day and with all the dot prints! I strategically waited to buy yardage for the next bed quilt I plan to make for my husband and I. Nothing to exciting, yet, but hopefully it will be when I am done with the quilt. :)

  3. Well, I missed both Fri and Sat. Driving from Sierra Vista AZ to South Texas - so much fun!!! I am trying now to do my Cyber Monday shopping - looks like you had fun! Came home to fried Routers - oh fun, but it was not a difficult set up - only Rise Broadband had a problem - Hugs

  4. You did well on your shopping spree, I stayed home away from the madness. There is now only 1 fabric shop near me, 20 miles away and they were closed. The other nearest closed last year otherwise I might have ventured out. There are many in the St Louis area but I will purchase online before I drive that far, even for fabric. The StL stores couldn't offer enough of a discount for me to cross the river.

  5. You did well! I did mostly Christmas shopping for the grandkids. Feels good to get a start on it.
