Kimono Quilt in Progress

Now that PIQF is over, it's back to actual sewing. So, here's an update on the Kimono quilt since making four more Kimono blocks to complete the layout.

Kimono block layout with sashing

Originally, I was going to place 5" squares of Asian fabrics as sashing,

first Kimono block layout idea with 5 inch block sashing

but decided that just looked too confusing. With a bit of combing through the stash to find a neutral Asian-like fabric for sashing, I found this print,

wide range of color print for sashing

which plays nice with everyone because of the wide range of colors in it. Woohoo! The perfect find!

Now I think I'll add all of those 5" Asian squares to the border, which a) uses them up, and b) makes the quilt a decent size, approximately 63" x 83". Anything left over will go on the back, completely clearing out Asian themed fabrics from the stash. Just making room for other fabrics to love!
