Midweek Makers #195

Welcome to the Midweek Makers linky party! I've spent the last couple days quilting Helen's beautiful applique quilt, Merrie Halloween by Buttermilk Basin. How I wish this was mine!

Using ideas from the Step-by-Step Texture Quilting book (affiliate link), Helen chose a vertical wood grain pattern in the five dark blocks, and horizontal fog in the four lighter ones. The border is quilted in a black spider web design, so as not to detract, yet have the same density as the blocks. That too, is a modified design from the book.

I also suggested a 1/4" outline around each block, to help separate it from it's neighbor, as a bit of pseudo-sashing.

Though there's a lot of applique, I really enjoyed working on this, and Helen is super excited to finally have it finished, just in time for Halloween!
