Midweek Makers #202

Welcome to the Midweek Makers linky party! Time to announce the winners of last week's Christmas Trees wall hanging pattern giveaway:

per the random choice of Rafflecopter, say a big congrats to
Nancy L and Carol A!
Both have been sent their patterns via email, and I hope to see pictures of their Christmas Trees in the future!

With my cold continuing to linger, especially in my eyes (yes, your eyes can be infected with a cold virus), progress on my next tree creation is slow. Below, I'm using clear monofilament and a small zigzag to finish off the applique.

Hoping for the big reveal on Friday!

While we're still on the subject of trees, awhile ago I received an email from Ellen, who made several items using the pumpkin applique blocks.

She asked if I had anything like this for Christmas, and after thinking about it and tinkering with a rough sketch, the applique Christmas Trees were born - thank you, Ellen, for the suggestion! And here is Ellen's version of the Christmas Trees applique:

I love that she used a dotted fabric - it makes the trees look like they have lights! Well done, Ellen!

Now on to this week's Midweek Makers. Continuing in the Stitch It and Gift It Blog Hop theme, there were a couple more quick gift ideas at last week's party that were not on the hop.
Take a look at these:

these simple eyeglass cases from EspiritPatch,

always needed hair scrunchies from Simply Crafting,

and my favorite idea, cup sleeves from Quilting and Learning!

Goodness! One could really go wild with fabric choices on all of these projects!

Now it's your turn - come join the fun!

  1. Thank you so much for the great Christmas tree design. I can't wait to make mine!!

  2. Still admiring your tree and I too love the fabric Ellen chose to use. It does sparkle. Sorry to hear you are still bothered by a cold and I wish I had a magical cure.

  3. Love the tree! I hope you get to feeling better soon. It's no fun having a cold ever!

  4. What a fabulous tree pattern, Susan! Love the dotted fabric of the one example too!

  5. Lovely trees, and the dot fabric is perfect!

  6. The appliqué Christmas trees are fabulous! I’m sorry your cold continues to be a nuisance. I hope that turns around sooner rather than later.

  7. Your applique Christmas trees are so fun, Susan -- they remind me of soft serve ice cream cones, so you could make the designs do double duty if you stuck a cone on the bottom and chose different fabrics! Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. I had no idea you could have your eyes infected by a cold virus, and hope it's not impairing your vision! Feel better soon!

  8. Susan, Love your new trees! Very elegant. Have a lovely Thanksgiving.

Thank you so much for just made my day!
