Spring Project Update

I shared a bit about a new project on Midweek Makers, and here's another picture update.

flower spray ready for fusing

This is a fusible project, with the pieces in place, ready to be fused down. Currently, they are tacked in position with a very small touch of glue. Too much and it shows through, or may keep the fusible from fusing. So just a touch!

After fusing, there will be lots of zig-zag stitching with invisible thread, and then the quilting. Lots more to get done.

I was really hoping to be further along on this project, but this coronavirus mess has disrupted my focus. The county has now banned gatherings of greater than 250 persons, NBA and NHL games are suspended, and the run on toilet paper continues. I visited Costco yesterday, close to its opening, and the line to get in went along the side of the store and to the back of the parking lot. Most people were leaving with TP, paper towels, and water. The energy in the store was one of controlled hysteria, and threw me off for the rest of the day. I'm afraid to tune into the news to see how much more the market has dropped. And I'm sure we haven't hit the worst of it yet.

So, with all of this going on, I'll try my best to be creative, keep sewing, and keep blogging. If we come to complete quarantine, know I have plenty of fabric to keep me occupied and I'm sure you do too. I have faith we will get through this.

Stay safe,

  1. Hang in there, Susan. I agree that this is very upsetting. I look forward to your blogs. We may all be housebound. I have to go out for cat food. Can't have my pets go hungry, even if we're all set with people items. Your applique project looks very intriguing.

  2. I can't figure out the need to buy TP. CV=19 doesn't cause diarrhea as far as I have read. I'm concerned about finding hand sanitizers myself. Well, I guess we take a deep breath and stay calm.

  3. Bold and beautiful colors! I love them!

  4. Heck, milk and flour were unavailable at Walmart yesterday morning!! I can just stay home for at least a month (I have canned and powdered milk) and my dad will just not have his morning bananas!! Love your project!! I only like to do fusible applique but I use the blanket stitch and matching thread on my machine to lock them down. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this applique!!

Thank you so much for just made my day!
