Midweek Makers

Welcome to Midweek Makers! And Happy Halloween!

bats and pumpkins for Midweek Makers

One of my favorite holidays, with fond memories of dressing up for a day. This year, though, I'm happy to just have candy, though the quilt kind, in the form of a Halloween runner or penny candy pieces, as I swore off sugar years ago.

As for my share this week, I have two client quilts. One was this lap/twin size beauty, Provencial, full of custom ruler work and stippling,

hand appliqued and hand pieced quilt blocks for a french themed quilt

plus a king's crown motif in the setting squares.

My other client brought me her version of the pumpkin quilt that I did for her friend a few weeks ago. This one has the Meandering Pumpkin pantograph on it.

Here's the backside to see that pantograph better.

Though I love all those orange fabrics, today I'm choosing to showcase the projects with yellow in them, as it is the RSC2020 color choice for October.

From LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color, these yellow maple leaves with different background values. Check out her post for the final layout of these blocks.

From Marsha's Spot, these pretty yellow blocks which she's making into hot pads.

And from Nanette at Chopin - A Passionate Quilter, she's got her blocks sewn together for Mary Brown, full of yellow sunflowers and pineapples.

What's your share this week? Anything for Halloween? Or maybe some final yellow blocks for RSC? Whatever your working on, come share!

  6. Beautiful quilts both! I love that pumpkin meander— might have to try FMQ-ing it. :-) how do you handle appliqué when you are quilting a custom piece like that? Echo it or add detail on top of it?
