Cat Quilt Progress

Woohoo! Progress has been made on my appliqued cat quilt blocks - take a look!

Now you get to see all of the different cat appliques, not just these two that I showed before.

With all the freezer paper templates gone, the blocks are pressed and trimmed to 14.5" square, corner triangles are added, and the center sashing joins them together. That's pretty good progress for me right now.

Reason I say that is because hubby and I have been making 12 hour drives (one way) every two weeks to help a relative rehab a house. It's slow going and there's still plenty do, which is not only exhausting but it really cuts into my quilting time and creativity. But I know all of the house work will be worth it when it's finished.

So, with that in mind, you may see fewer quilts and fewer posts from me over the next 2-3 months. Midweek Makers will continue on, and I've got several book giveaways planned over the next few weeks as C&T Publishing has been far too kind.

As for my cat quilt, I haven't decided on the borders yet but it may involve mice. And with this being a hand appliqued quilt, those mice will have to follow suit, which takes more time. Hmmm, maybe I can work on that on those long drives, just as long as I don't get carsick.

Overall, I'm happy that what started as blocks tucked away in a drawer for years is now becoming a quilt!

Happy Quilting!

  1. This is one of the most interesting quilts Susan. I understand the things that interrupt our quilting time and creativity. This quilt pattern will become a best seller! Don’t overdo the remodeling work. Watch your back! Hugs

  2. Love these cats!! Let us know when a pattern will be available! I don't do hand applique, but would do it as fused raw edge. Just so you know how some of us with more ideas than time use it!

  3. Wow! What a fun quilt for a cat lover. I love hand applique but haven't done any in awhile. I have one I think I need to pull out just to get back to it.

  4. What interesting blocks. It's amazing how they look so different based on the layout of the cats. Good luck with the driving and house rehab.

  6. That does cut into stitching time….and all else time too. There are those times in our lives. I love your cat blocks. That’s a lot of hand appliqué! It is fascinating to find the cats in the designs.
