Midweek Makers #434

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

Nothing to share this week as I've been spending most of my time out in the yard, weeding and trimming. All this rain has made everything just burst!

I've been happily watching my fruit trees bloom and create little fruits. Though I don't have a peach tree, I'm wondering if Sew Preeti Quilts does. She shared three peach themed quilts last week, all of them quite lovely.

Peach on Earth,

Feeling Peachy,

Feeling Peachy - Blush

Adobe House May Quilt Block Mania

Time to go on a trip to the desert! Let's spend the days trekking through sand and cactus, then relaxing at night in a quaint Adobe House.

Yes, 'desert' is the Quilt Block Mania theme this month. And when I think of 'desert', what comes to mind is either the Sahara or, for some crazy reason, the state of New Mexico.

Given that the Sahara is rather sparse for quilt block ideas, the group leaned toward desert vegetation of the US Southwest. And WOW! What a great variety of desert blocks!

For the month of May, visit each designer to download their free desert block. And don't forget to say thank you for their creativity!

Arizona Poppy by Cristy Fincher
Palm Tree by Slightly Biased Quilts

A Prickly Pear in the Garden
Goldenhead Flower by Emerald Falls Quilts

Tucson Too Late by Orange Blossom

All of those blocks make a beautiful view for my Adobe House occupants. Below is the inspiration for my house.

The Adobe House block combines easy piecing with a bit of applique, simple enough for the beginner quilter. It's free until June 3, 2024. Just click on the download button below for the PDF pattern file.

In downloading the pattern, you agree not to share the file with others, but direct them to the QuiltFabrication.com/Adobe HouseQuiltFabrication.com/Adobe House post - thank you!

Midweek Makers #433

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

Since I don't have enough yellow scraps for another RSC storage box, I made up a second holiday themed one. This time it's Christmas scraps, in another tall box, since those scraps are limited too. I'm trying to keep my scrap and yardage proportions real!

Amazing shares keep popping up on Midweek Makers. Last week was no different with these pretty finishes:

from Vicki's Crafts and Quilting, beautiful butterflies,

Melva Loves Scraps and her Pieces of My Life,

and finally, from Eagles Wings Quilts, a bright baby quilt.

Midweek Makers #432

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

I have news to share - my son, whose world adventures inspired the Seafarer quilt, now has a co-captain to accompany him to future ports of call.

Fortunately, the rain held off till the very end of the ceremony, and after the brief downpour, they headed down to the lake to take personal pictures. There, they were greeted with a rainbow, a sign of a beautiful start to their new life together.

I wish them many happy years! And yes, I made the cake.

With all of the wedding preparation, there was no time for sewing. Now that I'm home, I'll have no excuse for next week! Until then, let's look at these shares that caught my eye:

from Quilting Patch, this Christmas stained glass mini,

from Patchouli Moon Studio, Mod Dog minis,

and from Gretchen's Little Corner, a beautiful blue star.

Midweek Makers #431

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

As you know, the RSC color for April is yellow. I've made one block that I shared last week and thought about another. After opening the yellow drawer looking for scraps, I quickly closed it. Can you tell I'm not feeling the yellow?

So instead, I hunted through my Valentine stash, finding enough to make one of the tall storage boxes. Quite happy with this one!

At last week's party, did you see the terrific projects shared? Take a look at this bird from Naehbegeisterte,

this fun dinosaur quilt from Scrapbox Quilts,

and these adorable umbrella placemats from Bell Creek Quilts.

Next week, I won't have any quilting to share but some other exciting news - see you then!

Midweek Makers #430

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

The new RSC2024 color is out for April - woohoo for cheery yellow! I've chosen to pull the buttery yellows from my slim scrap bag, building around the honey bees for more I Spy hunting fun.

I'll have to dig through the yellow yardage drawer for more scraps if there's to be  another yellow block in my future. Right now, it's a challenge to get on my knees, so I might have to let that idea go.

On a happier note, I'm continuing the theme of lots of color as seen in this week's Midweek Makers badge. Check out these colorful shares:

from Not Afraid of Color, these eye-catching blocks,

from DonnaleeQ, some colorful scrap blocks,

and from Quilting and Learning, these scrappy placemats.

Great use of the scraps everyone!!!

Midweek Makers #429

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

I did squeeze in one more 'purple' block for RSC before the month was over. As promised, this one features prints, which I find hard to use in my scrap blocks. But this one is especially cute because of the kitty. Looks like this quilt idea might feature a bit of I Spy too!

From last week, a few awesome top finishes. From Making a Lather, this fun churn dash quilt,

from Happy Cottage Quilter, a fun house quilt top,

but a finished quilt from Quilting Gale, her SAHRR.

Beach Hut April Quilt Block Mania

This month's Quilt Block Mania theme is 'beach'. My block, Beach Hut, is all about retreating to the beach!

If you've been a follower over the last two years, you may recognize this Beach Hut from my quilt, Beach Boardwalk.

I have fond memories of designing and making that quilt, memories which have carried over to this month's block.

Though not originally a 12" square block, adding a bit of background to the sides makes the perfect size for a 12" Quilt Block Mania block, which I'm sharing with you.

Let's take a look at the other beach themed blocks for this month:

All of these blocks are free for the month of April - get them while you can! Be sure to thank the designers for their generosity.

Sun Block Quilt Block by Carolina Moore
Beach Ball by Patchwork Breeze
Ocean Sunset
Beach Reading by Inquiring Quilter
Follow Me Fish
Sand Castle by Appliques Quilts and More
Beach Umbrella by Inflorescence Designs
Beach Hut by QuiltFabrication
Scooping Sand by Patti's Patchwork
Snowy Owl
Beach Bum Bear by Colette Belt Designs
Scrappy Starfish by Sewistry
Seashell by Slightly Biased Quilts
Crab by Tourmaline Thyme Quilts
Sea Lion by Emerald Falls Quilts
Seaside Horizon by Cristy Fincher
Sunshiny Days Block by Craftapalooza Designs
Buoy by Oh Kaye Quilting
Surf Shop FPP Pattern
Eyes on your Fries

For my Beach Hut block, a few fat quarters are needed and yes, make it any color you'd like. Here's my Beach Hut block that went into Beach Boardwalk, of course minus the side pieces that would make it a 12" block.

The Beach Hut block may look a bit challenging to the beginner quilter, but with the pattern's detailed instructions, any quilter should be able to easily piece this. Sorry, it's no longer free but the block, and many other beach themed blocks, are available in the Beach Boardwalk quilt pattern.

Midweek Makers #428

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

As promised a few weeks ago, here's two more scrap shoe box blocks for the purples of March RSC2024. One is full of fuchsias (red-purple) and the other light and medium value purples.

With a bit more sorting, I may make one more shoe box before the month is over, maybe one with those hard to use prints. We shall see.

Last week's party had so many awesome projects! So hard to choose, but here were my favorites:

from Bastelhexe's Creative, these two tops that shimmer with jewel tones,

Sew Preeti Quilts with Lula May full of bright batiks on black,

and from Scrapbox Quilts, the finally finished Ohio Stars in autumn colors.
