Interestingly, colour wheels only have 6 colours, not the seven in the rainbow. I believe purple was split into its two tertiary colours for primarily spiritual reasons. Seven is a good number, six is a bad number, white signifies good and therefore must be made up of seven colours etc. Sir Isaac Newton was a genius but also a product of his times just like the rest of us.... By rights the rainbow has many more distinguishable colours than just seven :) Dione Gardner-Stephenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04491108842081708676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1041351291931932869.post-64948360565289803462020-08-22T05:12:09.371-07:002020-08-22T05:12:09.371-07:00Hi Susan! The first time, I made her come and pick out the fabrics. I simplified it for her to the warm-tone purple versus the cooler-toned purple. Her choice but only she knew which one she liked most. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I think it's a tropical plant from India or China. Maybe Newton just really liked the color!Marihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08195401144486416881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1041351291931932869.post-6354421089057135442020-08-19T06:23:13.334-07:002020-08-19T06:23:13.334-07:00I love your purple blocks!I love your purple blocks!Angelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01579473031377014416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1041351291931932869.post-36575635137048153572020-08-18T08:02:51.277-07:002020-08-18T08:02:51.277-07:00I hope that's a good thing!I hope that's a good thing!Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10020294112107230403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1041351291931932869.post-25343979706925963602020-08-17T19:39:51.134-07:002020-08-17T19:39:51.134-07:00Very interesting blog today. I would really like to delve into this more for myself, to see what I have, besides purple, and as soon as my life gets off the turnstile I will. Thanks again.anniebhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04882433822989523261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1041351291931932869.post-39396569027643808772020-08-17T13:12:15.686-07:002020-08-17T13:12:15.686-07:00Good job with the colors, pretty blocks.Good job with the colors, pretty blocks.Quilting Tangenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13060293296296157514noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1041351291931932869.post-5565548432370638902020-08-17T08:21:43.818-07:002020-08-17T08:21:43.818-07:00And just to confuse the issue my brown dog is name...And just to confuse the issue my brown dog is named Indigo. (Indie-go in - Indie-go out.) Thanks for the color lesson, I've too often just lumped them together and had to take a couple out in finished quilts because they were "backward" of the rainbow. Nothing like having a 5 year old to point it out! LOL Thanks again, jPeacemealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18150512033574602559noreply@blogger.com
