Scrappy Improv Quilting

I've got an exciting new book to share with you for the next two months - Scrappy Improv Quilting by Kelly Young. (affiliate link)

Can I start by saying I love this book? I mean, just look at the quilt on the cover - such a beautiful scrap quilt, with all those different values and colors just sparkling - Kelly has done it again!

Back in 2018, I joined a great list of quilters to make and feature a quilt from Kelly's first book, Stash Statement (affiliate link). The quilt I made was Regatta, and to this day, it is still one of my favorite scrap quilts.

Fast forward three years to more of Kelly's ideas for scrap quilts, this time in the mini form. Yes, Scrappy Improv Quilting is all about scraps and mini quilts for a total of 22 projects that can be made in a day or two. Here are just a few, with more shown at the Amazon link or at Kelly's blog, My Quilt Infatuation.

I am super impressed with Kelly's new book. She does a fantastic job of explaining the scrap quilting process, especially how to build blocks from small pieces of fabric. Once the scrap blocks are made, each quilt uses simple piecing for assembly, creating complex looking quilts that are actually quite easy. Let me just say, that if I were to write a quilt book, I'd want it to be like this one!

And guess what? There's going to be a blog hop, starting September 13 and going all the way to October 20, because there's a lot of quilters and quilts to share. My day will be October 6 with one of my favorite fall subjects. Until then, here's the schedule:
