Welcome to Midweek Makers!

One last client quilt to share, done days before surgery. Talk about tight! Anyway, it's a very soft star themed quilt made with flannels.

My favorite season, fall, officially started September 23, so I'm sharing a favorite pattern, my Pumpkat Patch table runner.

Midweek Makers #401

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

My share this week is two client quilts I finished a week before surgery (which was yesterday). First, there's this adorable baby quilt, with the Flirtatious pantograph in a hot pink thread,

and a very fun stack-n-whack UFO, full of summer fruits. For this one, I did a stipple in the pretty periwinkle background, then stitch-n-the-ditch plus one arc in each fruit pinwheel to let those shine. I certainly enjoyed quilting both of these up!

Enough about me - let's take a look at some creative projects seen last week.

Midweek Makers #400

Welcome to a milestone Midweek Makers - #400!

That's comes out to a little over 7 1/2 years of Midweek Makers in my 10 years of blogging. Wow! And I plan to continue even with my recent health issues.

Which brings me to a big announcement. Next week, September 19, I will undergo back surgery to bring an end to all the issues causing leg pain and numbness. I've tried PT, heat, rubs, massage, NSAIDs, and cortisone shots all to no avail. There's no denying it any longer - lumbar fusion plus a couple other procedures are necessary to restore alignment and relieve the pressure on the nerves.

Yes, I know this is going to be nasty. Do I want to do it? NO. But I'd really like to get my life back - to be able to walk more than half a mile. To stand without my foot going numb. To look up at trees and stars without pain. To drive more than 10 miles without leg pain. To not limit my activities. To just move again. I'm not asking for much - just a semblance of normal.

Though I'll be out for awhile, Midweek Makers will still go on, as will the Quilt Block Mania blocks. I've been working hard the last few weeks, designing and writing patterns, and getting all the posts, including Midweek Makers, all set for the time while I'm in recovery. The only thing you'll miss is the weekly Midweek Makers features for a few weeks, but those are being replaced with some fun surprises.

Though this will be rough, I'm keeping a positive attitude - this will get better!

Midweek Makers #399

Welcome to Midweek Makers! It's now September, which means we're at the start of fall and back to school!

For a few years, our family was done with official schooling. But now we're right back in it as my younger son, the one I refer to as Seafarer, is officially a med student. Having applied three times, he's finally in and on his way to being an MD. So school is once more in our lives, which is a good thing as one should never stop learning!

The National Dog Day party was last week, so we need to congratulate the winners of the giveaways. But first, some of the fun answers to the questions. Regarding coats, most said no, but one entry about how the dogs would rather eat them off each other made me laugh!

Almost all of you don't have dog houses, as a lots of the pups are indoors, and most happily chewing on Nyla bones. Lucky dogs!

And now the winners! Emmalee gets some new friends with the Puppy Tales quilt block, Cathy's pet now has a home with the Dog House block, and Susan will be everyone's favorite, handing out treats with the Dog Bone block! Congrats!

Maple Twist Block for September QBM

We are entering into fall, one of my favorite times of the year because of all the beautiful colors. And for September, the Quilt Block Mania theme is fall, so of course I designed these colorful maple leaves, Maple Twist.

Doesn't the yellow, red, and orange just pop? Oh, makes me swoon! And how about all of the other fall blocks for this month? Gorgeous, right?

But who can resist my Maple Twist leaves? Units of squares, rectangles, half-square triangles, and a few stem blocks makes for easy assembly. One block just needs 5 fat quarters.

The Maple Twist is now available as a quilt pattern! And it comes multi-sized: lap, twin, and queen. I love how the leaves look like they're strewn on a green lawn. Shown below is the lap size.
