Midweek Makers #424

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

I love my Midweek Makers badge this week - a hint of spring flowers mixed with snowflakes! I'm full of hope that spring will arrive soon!

After I finished my red scrap box, I turned to finishing up the green one from January. So now I have two scrap boxes and I've kept up with RSC - woohoo!

Some very fun quilts and blocks showed up last week - take a look at the bunny quilt from Making a Lather.

Then Quilts and Costumes created this really cool hourglass placemat,

while Quilts etc shared her very fascinating New York Beauty blocks.

Midweek Makers #423

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

We're having another rainy year in CA, which means all of our storms move across the country resulting in snow for most everyone else. Sorry about that! And it's still just February - hang in there everyone!

While we desperately need rain, it has also put a halt to the rebuild of our detached garage. But with some free time, I've been able to design a QBM block, rework the scrap quilt idea for RSC2024, and make and finish blocks for RSC. Here's my red scrap box for February's red RSC color, as a new and improved version from my original blue one a few months ago.

Before I put my red scraps away, I'll try and make a tall box using a deeper, more burgundy color. The weather is supposed to clear for a few days, meaning any sewing will have to hold for work on the garage. Sigh.

Party attendees shared some fun quilt tops last week. Making a Lather is working on finishing a falling charms quilt,

Time 4 Stitchin
shared quilting details of her snowman quilt,

and Donnleeq is finishing up an attic windows quilt.

I applaud your perseverance on clearing out the UFO's!

Midweek Makers #422

Welcome to Midweek Makers! And Happy Valentine's Day!

How wonderful that the RSC2024 February color is red! And because it's a day full of hearts, that exactly what my block is all about!

And take a look at a couple colorful quilts that were shown last week: Sew Preeti Quilts dazzled us with Aprajita, an Island Batik challenge quilt,

Scrapbox Quilts made this colorful kids quilt from leftovers,

and again, because it's Valentine's Day, Bell Creek Quilts shared a Woven Hearts table topper.

Nicely done everyone!

Midweek Makers #421

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

I've got a client quilt to share this week, another Rocksteady from Trish. This one has softer, quieter colors and prints, requiring a subtle pantograph. Paper Chase in Warm Grey was perfect for this quilt.

Along with my client finish, there are several other finishes shared last week.
From Julie's Quilts and Costumes, her Jabberwocky quilt,

from Gretchen's Little Corner, a beautiful Dresden Stars quilt,

and from Den syende himmel, a very unique circle quilt.

Nicely done everyone!

Quilt Maker for Quilt Block Mania February 2024

This month the Quilt Block Mania theme is 'maker'. And how better to express that than with a quilt block???

For fun, I put Quilt Maker into a 4x6 quilt layout, rotating blocks in each row, to come up with this:

Quite a striking quilt, don't you think?

Of course, that's what you can make with my block. But it may be just as fun to combine with the other 'maker' blocks made by various quilt designers.

Here's where you can find those blocks:

Quilt Maker is so easy to put together - it's perfect for the beginner quilter. A few four-patch blocks and half square triangles (hst's) are all it takes. As usual, fat quarters make one 12" x 12" finished block.

Sorry, the Quilt Maker block is no longer available - it may come back at another time.

Happy Quilting!
