February 2015 Book of the Month

This month, my selection is a new book, Cultural Fusion Quilts by Sujata Shah. (affiliate link)

I've done several quilts lately that needed precision piecing, so I thought it would be fun to do something a little more free form.  Those are always fun and liberating, providing a nice break from matching seams. Here's some examples of those types of quilts I've done in the past, with the first two done pre-blogging days.

For the following quilts, just click on the captions to go to the blog posts to read all about their inception.
Spin Off

Ripple Effect
                     Stars of the Sea

Scrap Ducks

Random Acts of Blue

Can you tell I like the occasional free form quilt?  And the next quilt should be no exception. Looking through the book, I'm impressed with her easy, clear instructions for free form cutting.  There really is more too it than just cutting willy-nilly! There actually is a basic plan for the best success. Now to decide which to do--there are 15 possibilities.  I'll keep you posted!

Happy Quilting!
