Midweek Makers #420

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

I'm sharing some other green scrap blocks I stitched up for January RSC 2024. These blocks are made from half square triangles I made after doing a stitch-n-flip technique for another project. So easy to just sew another seam and make an HST. Only problem is, I now have a lot of different sized HST's to use!

Aside from those, the other long block strip is from other leftover parts. Just trying to stitch together anything green for the month! As for the green scrappy long-length thing from last week, the final size is still undetermined. I really should decide!

Being that I'm in a green mood, check out these green pretties that were shared last week:

from Scrapbox Quilts, a green 16 patch flimsy,

from Alycia Quilts, a blue and green lightening streak quilt in progress,

and from Not Afraid of Color, this fun green feathered star block.

Midweek Makers #419

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

My little blob of scraps from last week grew into a monster, measuring in at 22 inches.

I got a bit carried away after letting go of the 'no straight seams top to bottom' rule I set for myself, completely engaged with sewing and forgetting how long to make this piece. Now I need to go back to my quilt idea to figure out if I want it longer than I originally designed, then find the best place to cut the block. Geez, who would have thought sewing scraps together could get so complicated!

Instead of dwelling on my very uninspiring scrap block, let's look at some lovely shares from last week's party:

this blue and white log cabin top from Viridian's blog,

a first finish for 2024 from the Quilt Patio,

and an adorable birdhouse for a challenge finish from Not Afraid of Color.

Midweek Makers #418

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

Notice the birthday theme? Yup, it was my birthday yesterday, and I'm now SEXTY! That's what my mom exclaimed when she turned 60. Well, I'm finally there and get to be sexty for a whole year - woohoo!

I got a start on my green RSC block, though I think I'm being a bit fussy with it. I'm trying to achieve a random look, as if these scraps were tossed into a bin. For me, that means no seams going top to bottom to join units, which is rather difficult to achieve. I think I'd better get a grip on this idea, cause seriously, they're just scraps!

Since my share is rather unimpressive, let's look at some pretty flimsies and quilts from last week. Dragon's Heart Quilting finished her broken bricks top,

Making a Lather finally finished an adorable crayon RSC from 2019,

and Scrapbox Quilts is finishing up her Fall Foliage quilt top.
