Midweek Makers #385

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

Here's another client quilt, a very pretty blue and yellow hexie themed top. This one is quilted with Glide's Buttercup yellow and the pantograph Pretty Paisley, which coordinates with some of the paisley fabric in the top. I just love it when a top comes in and goes home so pretty!

Speaking of pretty, did you see the quilts shared at last week's party? So many gorgeous quilts and so hard to choose which to feature - take a look at my favs!

Bell Creek Quilts showed off a pretty scrappy rainbow quilt,

Viridian's Blog shared her Flower Garden quilt top made from feedsack prints,

and Quiltpiecer is thrilled to have her RSC 2022 quilt top done. What a beauty!

Midweek Makers #384

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

Here's a simple, but elegant client quilt recently completed.

She wanted orange peels quilted through the 9-patches, which has given it a very soft hand. Now you may be thinking, it doesn't look finished. That's because this is a wedding quilt in which family members and friends will add quilting in the open spaces. What a great memento, don't you think?

And how about these pretties seen last week? From Gretchen's Little Corner, this very adorable corn themed table runner,

from Scrapbox Quilts, a very happy summer calendar quilt,

and from Quilting Patchwork Applique, this very adorable Village de Provence.

Midweek Makers #383

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

I'm now working on the back for my scrappy patriotic quilt. Still trying to use up bits and pieces to match with the front, though this has a way to go to get it to the right size. I've got large pieces for the edges, but they're not big enough. I'll need to add to the center pinwheel to fill in the gaps. Putting on my creative hat for this one!

Take a look at these projects from last week. Alycia Quilts shared her top created during a QOV sew day,

Bell Creek Quilts stitched together some orphan blocks while on a road trip to create this happy number,

and for all of you Star Wars fans, Ulrikes-smaating created this Death Star tribute.

Looking good everyone! And now on to this week's party!

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

Here's a fun share from an Etsy client - my Good Dog quilt block made scrappy!
three dog quilt blocks in scrappy fabrics
Ultimately, these were paired with a paw block from another Etsy shop to make really adorable puppy quilts. Love it when quilters branch out and create!

Speaking of creating, take a look at these from last week:
from Rebecca Grace Quilting, these scrappy Halo blocks,

this great SAHRR 2023 finish from Scrapbox Quilts,

and Quilting Patch Applique shared this Grey as Well runner.

Friendship Bracelets for May Quilt Block Mania

Friendships, whether with a casual acquaintance or close buddy, living near or far, young or old, create a rich life. And many times, to display that strong bond, friends exchange Friendship Bracelets. That's what I'm offering today!

Of course, bracelets are just one way to represent friendship. Take a look at how the other quilt block designers have interpreted the friendship theme for Quilt Block Mania.

Such great blocks for representing friendship! They would certainly make a wonderful quilt - visit everyone below to collect them for May.

Friendship Heart Circle by Carolina Moore
Best Friends by Inquiring Quilter
Friendship Butterfly by Inflorescence
Mans Best Friend by Scrapdash
Circle of Friends by Sugar Sand Quilt Co.

Friendship Chain at The (not so) Dramatic Life
Tea Cup by Penny Spool Quilts
Dog Paw by Crafty Staci
Scrappy Friendship Star by Katie Mae Quilts
My Best Friend's House by The Quilted Diary
Striped Friendship Block by Kaye Collins
Circle of Friends by Applliques Quilts and More
Loving Friends by Epida Studio

Pineapple by Emerald Falls Quilts
Friendship Bracelets by A Piece of Quiet Quilts
Friendship Bracelets by A Piece of Quiet Quilts

For me, Friendship Bracelets are the first thing that jumps to mind for the theme. Maybe it's because my husband wears one, having several backups for when they wear out. His are quite simple, composed of five unwoven strands of yarn, but they certainly can be works of art!

Given the size that we're dealing with on this block, I went simple, choosing solid fabrics to represent the Friendship Bracelets. But a small geometric fabric print would work great to give that woven look - let yourself run free when creating them!

For one block, fat quarters work best, though the bracelets can come from scraps. The block finishes at 12" x 12", and is available for free until June 5, 2023. Just click on the download button below for the PDF pattern file.

In downloading the pattern, you agree not to share the file with others, but direct them to the QuiltFabrication.com/Friendship Bracelets post - thank you!

Midweek Makers #381

 Welcome to Midweek Makers!

I've got a project in the works - a scrappy red, white, and blue number.

blue blocks and a red and white striped pinwheel

The blue blocks on the left were created in January for RSC2023. When I stitched them up, I knew I was going to make a blue themed quilt with them, not the usual RSC rainbow. They sat around until the idea of pairing them with red and white hit me - duh - which is my favorite color combo! In future posts, I'll explain how this quilt really is a scrappy creation.

Until then, take a look at these pretties:
Grace and Peace Quilting showed off her 1000 quilt that she quilted - awesome!

Bell Creek Quilts shared her jelly roll blocks sashed with red,

and Den syende himmel showed off her finished Chilhowie mystery quilt, one that I've been following because of the pretty colors.

Strawberry Love Runner

Here's to all the strawberries lovers out there - a new strawberry themed table runner, aptly named Strawberry Love.

five red strawberries and white flowers on a aqua background

I had so much fun making these strawberries because not only are they so easy to piece, but they made me smile after each one. Yes, it's just as good as snacking on the sweet red berries themselves AND as addictive!

three different sizes of red strawberry quilt blocks

Using different small print red fabrics for the berries adds fun variety, while the white pinwheel flowers add a nice spark. Pairing all that red, green, and white with the aqua background makes Strawberry Love a very cheerful addition to my table!

As for the quilting, I kept it simple as I wanted the strawberries and flowers to be the main focus. The background consists of stippling, the flowers are stitched-in-the-ditch, and the strawberries have a crosshatch design which follows the piecing points.

The Strawberry Love runner measures at approximately 14" x 44", a perfect table size. If you, too, have the same passion for strawberries and want some springtime fruit on your table, then Strawberry Love is for you!

This easy, beginner friendly pattern is available now in my Etsy Shop - use coupon code 'BERRYLOVE' for 20% off now through April 30, 2023 - enjoy!

Happy Quilting!

Midweek Makers #380

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

See all those blossoms above? All the plants are waking up and growing, needing trimming. Which means I've spent more time outside tending to my garden than inside sewing. With nothing to share, let's move on to these rainbows of color seen last week.

From Eagles' Wings Quilts, this beauty,

Not Afraid of Color shared another creative quilt - so cute!

And this pretty rainbow runner from Sew Yummy.

Midweek Makers #379

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

Two weeks ago, you may remember the strawberry themed wall hanging and table runner that I was putting out decorate my house. Sadly, two runner spaces in my living room have flower runners because I only have the one that's strawberry themed. Very sad indeed!

Feeling the creativity return and wanting a second strawberry runner, I opened EQ8 and designed a simple strawberry block based on a favorite heart block.

red strawberry with leaves and stem

Next step was to do a test sew, double checking my construction ideas for the leaves and stem. And it turned out sweet!

So sweet that I made it in three sizes: 6", 9", and 12", and now the Strawberry block pattern is available in my Etsy shop! Soon, I can share my new strawberry themed table runner after the finishing touches are done. Stay tuned!

This week I'm featuring the color pink with these shared projects. From Scrapbox Quilts, this pink confection,

a pretty wool runner in progress from Making a Lather,

and lastly, In Stitches with Bonnie shared a mystery quilt she's working on.
