Midweek Makers 343

Welcome to Midweek Makers - let's share some summer stitching!

For me, I have great news to share! I got to spend time sewing last week, making progress on the RSC2022 project. Here's a peek at the layout:

Now I know you're probably thinking it's too early for the layout - there's still 3 more months of colors to sew. And I thought I would continue to sew more blocks in those colors until I pulled out what I had leftover from previous years and put the blocks on the wall.

Well, I got caught up in a very modern, freeform placement and decided to stick with it. I just needed 3-5 small blocks to fill in the blanks and a lot of white-on-white prints for the background to create a very unusual piece. Hopefully, I'll have this done in 2-3 weeks, time permitting, then I can share more.

I also want to give everyone a heads up - the very popular National Dog Day linky party is happening again this year, on August 26. Get your dog themed projects or your dog on quilts ready for the show!

For now, let's see some projects from last week.

From DonnaleeQ, a pretty neutral flimsy that is almost done,

the very modern blue creation from My Quilts and Crafts,

and a lovely forest of trees from Quilting Gail.

Now it's your turn - what do you have to share?

  • please link directly to your post
  • please link a quilt related item
  • visit with the other guests and leave some comment love
Have fun!

Palm Leaf for August Quilt Block Mania

How about we spend some time in the jungle this month?

Yes, that's the theme for the August Quilt Block Mania block, and I've designed a Palm Leaf to set everyone in the mood! Can't you just image walking through the jungle and being tapped on the shoulder by these huge palm leaves? Of course, there's a ton of other things that may visit you - let's see what the other designers came up with.

Here's the color palette we worked from, if you would like to add supporting blocks that would coordinate with those from the designers. Nice selection, huh?

And here's the list of links for collecting those blocks this month. Be sure to thank the designers for providing blocks for a fun themed jungle quilt!

Hippo Quilt Block by Carolina Moore
Emerald Tree Boa from Inflorescence
Tiger at Duck Creek Mountain Quilting
Snakes, Slugs and Snails at Scrapdash
Stacked jungle animals by Appliques Quilts and More
Palm Leaf by QuiltFabrication
Margaritaville by Inquiring Quilter
Chameleon Block by BoBerry Design Co.
Monkey Business at Patti's Patckwork
Tropical Bloom
Jungle Vines
Toucan Quilt Block by Purple Daisies Quilting
Teal Gorilla by Blue Bear Quilts

As has been my designing style lately, my Palm Leaf block features easy fusible applique, perfect for the confident beginner quilter. The curves are big, so cutting and stitching are pretty easy!

A fat quarter is needed for the background, plus two greens in the same size or scraps. And don't forget the fusible web! Full-sized reversed templates plus placement guides are included in the pattern to make this finished 12" block.

Unfortunately, a
s they say, all good things must come to an end. These six are the remaining blocks that fill out the year's long tour. If you've missed any, here's the post links for all of the previous blocks.

Blocks 38 - 46

Blocks 30 - 37

Blocks 22 - 29

Blocks 13 - 21

Blocks 9 - 12

Blocks 1 - 8

Now let's see those remaining six!

Block 47, a fat quarter bundle from Our Crafty Life,

Block 48, a scrappy S block from Sew Joy Creations,

Block 49, a spool of thread from The Quilting Room with Mel,

Block 50, a button jar from Orange Blossom Quilts,

Block 51, a basket of yarn from Appliques Quilts and More,

Block 52, sewing scissors from Dragonfly's Quilting Studio.

And that, my quilty friends, concludes the Sew Much Fun Tour. I hope you have enjoyed collecting all of the blocks throughout the year. At the moment, there is no tour scheduled for the next year, though the coordinator of the event hasn't ruled out a different style of block tour - stay tuned!

Happy Quilting!
