National Dog Day!

It's here - National Dog Day - the day to celebrate dogs! Come link up your posts about those special dogs in your life, real or in fabric!

The linky party is open today, August 26 till midnight, Saturday, August 28 with guaranteed cuteness! Really, who can resist adorable puppies??? Keep reading to see my new fur babies and enter the giveaways!

Over the last week, I had a litter of my own - in fabric, that is. Meet the Good Dog, a block pattern now available in my QuiltFabriction Etsy shop.

Aren't these just too cute? I had fun with the colorings - there's the classic white and black dog,

a grey/black dog with a white chest,

and a cream/brown dog, also with a white chest, to round out the litter.

Per hubby's request, I made the Good Dog ears floppy, choosing to stitch a pink fabric to the underside then stitching the ear just at the top. Of course, the ears could easily have been fused down.

As for the size, the Good Dog quilt block measures in at 12.5" x 12.5".

Just too darn cute!!

These pups have made me so happy over the last week! The Good Dog block was something I drew up years ago, and now could finally make after purchasing the Crafters Edge 3.5" and 6.5" Drunkards Path dies, plus a 7" ruler.  Of course, those rulers and dies aren't necessary as the pattern includes templates for them.

Want to win a free Good Dog block pattern? Just enter the Rafflecopter giveaway. The winner will be sent a Good Dog pattern via email - good luck! (This giveaway has now ended)

Though I have cats, I do have a grandpuppy, Po. He currently lives in Boston but will be moving to Durham, NC in a few months. Here he is at his birthday last December, wearing the bandana I made him to celebrate his special day.

Birthing the Good Dogs took longer than I expected, so I didn't get to make the Puppy Tales applique dog that looks like Po, pictured below in brown. Po does love wearing bandanas!

Until I get to that, the Puppy Tales applique dog pattern is not only available in my Etsy shop, but it's also the feature of the next giveaway - just enter via Rafflecopter! This too will be emailed to the winner.

And the doggy fun continues! For those who love paper piecing, I'm giving away Mary Hertel's Paper Piecing All Year Round. (affiliate link)

Included inside is - you guessed it - dogs to paper piece!

To win, enter via Rafflecopter below. This giveaway is open to continental US residents only - no Alaska, Hawaii, or International entries. Shipping is via USPS.

Now, let's get on to the party and see everyone's pups!!
